Day 2 - Dubrovnik Old Town

Views of Dubrovnik as we approached ....

One of these houses had its roof and top storey badly damaged by shellfire from the Yugoslav/Serbian army in the Balkan war of 25 years ago.  Can you tell which on it was?

It was the one on the left and the French government helped to source replacement tiles and window frames to match the ones which had been destroyed.

Dubrovnik used to be an independent state and the government buildings were the one on the right and straight ahead.

The state of Dubrovnik was the first tin the world to outlaw slavery and the first to recognise the independence of the United States.

They had 3 main values in the state of Dubrovnik - Freedom is worth more than all the gold in the world, don't cheat and think of the common good rather than your family.

'Game of Thrones' is big business in Dubrovnik these days

Dubrovnik's first hotel

St Blaise Cathedral

Can you see the shrapnel damage on the right had side of the door?
